Congressional Leaders 1789 - 2000

The Excel file below contains the first Dimension DW-NOMINATE scores of Vice Presidents, House speakers, Senate majority and minority leaders, House majority and minority leaders. The terms of office were compiled from official House and Senate web sites. The spreadsheet was prepared by Eric Lomazoff at the Russell Sage Foundation.

The score is the DW-NOMINATE score for the Congress. If there is no score for the Congress, the score for the closest previous Congress was used. If there is no score for a previous Congress, the score for the closest succeeding Congress was used. If the individual never had a DW-NOMINATE score, the entry is blank.
