Representative from New York; born in Warsaw, Wyoming County, N.Y., November 2, 1922; attended the Warsaw public schools; graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., 1942; graduated from Cornell Law School, Ithaca, N.Y., 1948; United States Marine Corps; United States Marine Corps Reserve; lawyer, private practice; member of the New York state senate, 1963-1964; elected as a Republican to the Eighty-ninth and to the nine succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1965-January 3, 1985); not a candidate for reelection to the Ninety-ninth Congress in 1984; World Bank executive,1986-1991; died on November 30, 2003, in Sarasota, Fla.; interment in Alexander Cemetery, Alexander, N.Y.
