Representative from Pennsylvania; born in New York City, September 27, 1946; attended elementary and intermediate schools in New York City and Solebury, Pa.; graduated from West Nottingham Academy, Colora, Md., 1965; B.A., Columbia University, New York City, 1971; reporter, 1971-1972; press secretary to Pennsylvania attorney general, 1972-1973; deputy press secretary to Governor of Pennsylvania, 1973-1976; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fifth and Ninety-sixth Congresses (January 3, 1977-January 3, 1981); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-seventh Congress in 1980 ; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-January 3, 1993); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992; Administrator, Region III (Philadelphia), Environmental Protection Agency, 1994-1995; is a resident of New Hope, Pa.Courtesy of Biographical Directory of the United States Congress
