Representative from Minnesota; born in Breckenridge, Wilkin County, Minn., April 26, 1948; graduated from Breckenridge High School, 1966; B.A., University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, 1970; J.D., University of Minnesota Law School, Minneapolis, 1973; admitted to the Minnesota bar, 1973 and commenced practice in Stillwater, 1974; elected, Minnesota senate, 1976-1982; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-January 3, 1993); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1992 to the One Hundred Third Congress; is a resident of Stillwater, Minn.Courtesy of Biographical Directory of the United States Congress
