Biography
A Representative from Minnesota; born in Anoka County, Minn., March 12, 1880; attended the public schools; was graduated from the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis in 1903; attended the law department of the University of Minnesota in 1904, 1905, 1915, and 1916; engaged in the publishing and printing business at Anoka, Minn., 1904-1914; municipal judge of Anoka, Minn., 1911-1916; deputy State auditor and land commissioner of Minnesota 1916-1920; was graduated from the St. Paul (Minn.) College of Law in 1919; was admitted to the bar the same year but did not practice; State auditor and land commissioner of Minnesota 1921-1931; unsuccessful Republican candidate for Governor of Minnesota in 1930; elected as a Republican to the Seventy-third Congress (March 4, 1933-January 3, 1935); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1934; practiced law, specializing in legal research, 1935-1943; member of the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission 1944-1948; died in Anoka, Minn., on September 18, 1948; interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.Courtesy of Biographical Directory of the United States Congress
