Representative from New York; born in Brooklyn, Kings County, N.Y., May 30, 1958; attended Nassau Community College, Garden City, N.Y., 1978; attended Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., 1978-1979; B.A., George Washington University, Washington, D.C., 1982; staff, United States Representative Richard Ottinger of New York, 1980-1983; member of the Huntington, N.Y., town board, 1993-2001; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Seventh and to the seven succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2001-January 3, 2017); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fifteenth Congress in 2016.
