Representative from Louisiana; born in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, La., October 6, 1965; graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School, Metairie, La., 1983; B.S., Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La., 1989; software engineer; technology company marketing executive; member of the Louisiana state house of representatives, 1996-2007; member of the Louisiana state senate, 2008; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Tenth Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of United States Representative Bobby Jindal, and reelected to the eight succeeding Congresses (May 3, 2008-present); majority whip (One Hundred Thirteenth through One Hundred Fifteenth Congresses); minority whip (One Hundred Sixteenth and One Hundred Seventeenth Congresses); majority leader (One Hundred Eighteenth Congress).
