Representative from California; born in San Fernando, Los Angeles County, Calif., March 31, 1963; graduated from San Fernando High School, San Fernando, Calif., 1981; B.A., University of California, Santa Barbara, Calif., 1986; realtor; insurance agent; member of the California state assembly, 1996-2002; member of the Los Angeles, Calif., city council, 2003-2013; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Thirteenth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2013-January 3, 2025); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Nineteenth Congress in 2024.
