Representative from New York; born in Brooklyn, Kings County, N.Y., August 4, 1970; B.A., Binghamton University, Vestal, N.Y., 1992; M.P.P., Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., 1994; J.D., New York University, New York, N.Y., 1997; law clerk, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, 1997-1998; lawyer, private practice; member of the New York state assembly, 2007-2012; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Thirteenth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2013-present); one of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives in 2020 to conduct the impeachment proceedings of Donald J. Trump, President of the United States; chair, House Democratic Caucus (One Hundred Sixteenth and One Hundred Seventeenth Congresses); minority leader (One Hundred Eighteenth Congress).
