Representative from Arizona; born in Tucson, Pima County, Ariz., November 7, 1958; B.A., Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, 1982; J.D., University of Arizona, Tucson, Ariz., 1984; M.A., Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz, 1999; lawyer, private practice; member of the Arizona state house of representatives, 2003-2011; member of the Arizona state senate, 2011-2016, majority leader, 2011-2012, president, 2013-2016; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fifteenth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2017-present); one of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives in 2024 to conduct the impeachment proceedings of Alejandro N. Mayorkas, United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
