Moynihan of New York, 1988-1989; staff, United States Department of State, 1994-1998; senior director, National Security Council, 1998-2001; Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, United States Department of State, 2014-2017; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Sixteenth and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 2019-January 3, 2023) unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress in 2022.
