Representative from Georgia, born on June 3, 1970; graduated from Northside High School, Roanoke, Va., 1988; B.A., Yale University, New Haven, Conn., 1992; M.P.A., University of Southern California, Los Angeles, Calif., 1999; Ph.D., Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., 2003; staff, United States Representative and Senator Ron Wyden, 1993-1997; professor, Georgia State University, Atlanta, Ga., 2003-2020; director, Georgia state senate budget and evaluation office, 2007-2010; unsuccessful candidate for election to the One Hundred Sixteenth Congress in 2018; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Seventeenth Congress (January 3, 2021-January 3, 2023); unsuccessful candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress in 2022.
