Biography

A Senator from Alabama; born in Birmingham, Ala., March 1, 1953; B.A., Tulane University, 1975; J.D., Tulane University Law School, 1979; admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1981, and engaged in the practice of law in Birmingham; attorney general of Alabama 2011-2017; appointed as a Republican to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Jefferson Sessions; took the oath of office on February 9, 2017, and served until January 3, 2018, a successor having been chosen in a special election; unsuccessful candidate for Republican nomination to the unexpired portion of the term.
