A Senator from Minnesota; born in Albuquerque, N.Mex., March 4, 1958; B.A., Stanford University, 1980; M.B.A., Dartmouth College, Tuck School of Business, 1984; marketing consultant and executive; chief of staff to Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak; chief of staff to Minnesota governor Mark Dayton; lieutenant governor of Minnesota 2015-2018; appointed as a Democrat to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Al Franken, took the oath of office on January 3, 2018; subsequently elected in a special election on November 6, 2018, for the remainder of the term; reelected in 2020 for the term ending January 3, 2027.
