Biography
a Senator from Louisiana; born in Kentucky in 1775; attended the common schools; pursued an academic course; studied law; admitted to the bar in 1796 and practiced in Lexington, Ky.; moved to Louisiana and practiced his profession; member, State house of representatives; elected as a Democratic Republican to the United States Senate and served from September 3, 1812, to March 3, 1813; resumed the practice of law; died in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, La., April 16, 1822.
