Biography

Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Gettysburg, Pa., June 17, 1804; pursued an academic course; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1825 and commenced practice in Gettysburg, Pa.; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1845-March 3, 1847); resumed the practice of law in Gettysburg, Pa.; member of the State house of representatives in 1855; continued the practice of law until his death in Gettysburg, Pa., September 30, 1870; interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
