R. 1; THE AMENDMENT SUBSTITUTES A NEW SUBJECT AFTER THE ENACTING CLAUSE AS FOLLOWS: "AN ACT DIRECTING THE PURCHASE OF SILVER BULLION AND ISSUE OF TREASURY NOTES", AND DIRECTS THE SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY TO PURCHASE SILVER BULLION TO THE AGGREGATE AMOUNT OF 4,500,000 OUNCES AT A PRICE NOT EXCEEDING ONE DOLLAR FOR 371.25 OUNCES OF PURE SILVER AND TO ISSUE TREASURY NOTES IN PAYMENT OF SUCH PURCHASES; TO CONTINUE USE AND COINAGE OF BOTH GOLD AND SILVER AS STANDARD MONEY, UNDER PRESCRIBED REGULATIONS.
