R. 8665, A BILL MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE NAVAL SERVICE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1896, WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO ELIMINATE SUCH AS AUTHORIZES THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE, SEAGOING, COAST-LINE BATTLE SHIPS DESIGNED TO CARRY THE HEAVIEST ARMOR AND MOST POWERFUL ORDNANCE UPON A DISPLACEMENT OF ABOUT 10,000 TONS, TO HAVE THE HIGHEST PRACTICABLE SPEED FOR VESSELS OF THEIR CLASS, AND TO COST, EXCLUSIVE OF ARMAMENT, NOT EXCEEDING $4,000,000.00 EACH.
