Description: TO AMEND S. 384 (APP. JULY 5, 1838, 5 STAT L. 255), A BILL MODIFYING THE LAST CLAUSE OF THE 5TH SECTION OF THE DEPOSIT ACT OF 1836, BY INSERTING AS AN ADDITIONAL SECTION, THAT IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL TO PROHIBIT THE RECEPTION BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE NOTES OF SUCH BANKS AS MAY HAVE ISSUED NOTES OF DENOMINATIONS LESS THAN $5, SAID AMEND. REPEALING 1ST 12 SECTIONS OF ACT OF JUNE 1836, SO AS TO ENABLE TREAS. DEPT. TO COLLECT ANY DEBTS WHICH MAY BE DUE OR OWING FROM THE LATE DEPOSIT BANKS.
