THE BYRD AMENDMENT REQUIRES THE PRESIDENT TO SUBMIT TO THE CONGRESS THE REPORT REQUIRED UNDER SECTION 4(A)(1) OF THE WAR POWERS RESOLUTION AND TO SPECIFY THE ROLES AND MISSIONS OF THE U.S. ARMED FORCES IN LEBANON, AND TO EXTEND THE 60-DAY PERIOD FOR 60 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF ENACTMENT.
