Description: TO AMEND S. 1285, A BILL AUTHORIZING $425 MILLION IN FISCAL YEAR 1984 AND $540 MILLION IN FISCAL YEAR 1985 TO UPGRADE INSTRUCTION IN MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY, AND PROVIDING ASSISTANCE FOR EMPLOYMENT-BASED VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS. THE HATFIELD AMENDMENT PROVIDES THAT IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL TO DENY EQUAL ACCESS TO STUDENTS IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS WHO WISH TO MEET VOLUNTARILY FOR RELIGIOUS (CONTINUED) PURPOSES. THE AMENDMENT ALSO PROVIDES DISTRICT COURTS WITH JURISDICTION OVER EQUAL ACCESS VIOLATIONS. (MOTION PASSED)
