Description: A bill to prohibit sports gambling under State law.

Bill summary: Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act - Makes it unlawful for a governmental entity, or a person acting pursuant to the law or compact of such an entity, to operate, sponsor, advertise, promote, license, or authorize a lottery, sweepstakes, or other betting, gambling, or wagering scheme based, directly or indirectly, on one or more competitive games in which amateur or professional athletes participate, or intend to participate, or on one or more performances of such athletes in such games. Authorizes the commencement of a civil action in district court to enjoin violations committed under this Act. Sets forth specified exceptions to such prohibitions.
