A Senator from Maine; born in Alexandria, Va., March 31, 1944; graduated Dartmouth College, B.A., 1966; graduated University of Virginia, J.D., 1969; lawyer; counsel, U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Alcoholism and Narcotics; television program host and co-producer; company executive; energy conservation company owner; governor of Maine 1995-2003; elected as an Independent to the United States Senate in 2012 for the term commencing January 3, 2013; reelected in 2018 for the term ending January 3, 2025.
