Biography
Representative from New York; born in Troy, N.Y., ca. 1797; graduated from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., in 1819; studied law; admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of his profession in New York City in 1831; member of the State assembly in 1831; elected as a Jacksonian candidate to the Twenty-third Congress and served from March 4, 1833, to July 1, 1834, when he resigned; unsuccessful candidate for mayor of New York City, N.Y. in 1845; died in Paris, France, November 7, 1855; interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, N.Y.
