Biography
Representative from Maryland; born in Charles County, Md., November 1, 1789; attended the rural schools and a medical college in Philadelphia; graduated from Baltimore Medical School in 1811; commenced practice in Piscataway, Prince George's County, Md., and later engaged in farming; member of the state house of delegates 1825-1828 and served as speaker; served in the state senate; elected as an Anti-Jacksonian candidate to the Twenty-first and Twenty-second Congresses (March 4, 1829-March 3, 1833); again a member of the state house of delegates in 1842 and 1843; lived in retirement until his death at Oak Lawn, Prince George's County, Md., February 10, 1863.Courtesy of Biographical Directory of the United States Congress
