Description: TO AMEND AN AMENDMENT TO H.R. 14715, CLARIFYING EXISTING AUTHORITY FOR EMPLOYMENT OF WHITE HOUSE OFFICE AND EXECUTIVE RESIDENCE PERSONNEL. THE AMENDMENT RESTORES THE AUTHORIZATION FOR HIGH-LEVEL EXECUTIVE POSITIONS TO THE NUMBER AUTHORIZED UNDER PRESENT LAW.

Bill summary: (LATEST SUMMARY) Authorizes the President to appoint personnel in the White House and the Executive Residence without regard to provisions of law governing appointments in the competitive service. Sets forth the allowable number and salary of employees which the President is authorized to obtain. Authorizes to be appropriated each fiscal year to the President: (1) such sums as necessary to pay official reception, entertainment, and representation expenses, to be expended at the discretion of (...show more) the President and accounted for by the Comptroller General; and (2) such sums as necessary for allocation within the Executive Office for official reception and representation expenses. Authorizes appropriations to enable the Vice President to provide assistance to the President in connection with the discharge of executive duties. Increases the annual travel allowance of the President from $40,000 to $100,000. Requires the President to transmit to each House of the Congress, annually, reports with respect to expenditures for employees performing duties in the White House Office and the Executive Residence at the White House. Limits to one year the period of time for which an employee of the executive branch may be detailed for duty in the White House Office.
