Description: TO PASS H.R. 4634, BASIC WORKWEEK OF FEDERAL FIREFIGHTING PERSONNEL.

Bill summary: (Reported to House from the Committee on Post Office and Civil Service with amendment, H. Rept. 94-1186) Provides that the basic administrative workweek of each firefighter of executive agencies shall be an average of 54 hours per week, computed on the basis of a period of three consecutive bi-weekly pay periods. Requires that such provisions shall take effect at the beginning of the first pay period in 1977. Defines firefighter to mean an employee of an Executive agency whose primary duties are the control and extinguishment of fires. Authorizes premium pay for each firefighter with an administrative work week established under this Act.
