Description: TO PASS S.J.RES. 247, AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT TO SUSPEND PENALTY PROVISIONS OF THE FOREIGN ASSISTANCE ACT AND THE FOREIGN MILITARY SALES ACT, IF HE DETERMINES THAT SUCH SUSPENSION WILL FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS FOR A PEACEFUL RESOLUTION OF THE CYPRUS CONFLICT.

Bill summary: Authorizes the President to suspend, in the case of Turkey, the provisions of the Foreign Assistance Act and the Foreign Military Sales Act relating to the regional ceiling on foreign and military assistance, during the period beginning on the date of the enactment of this joint resolution and ending on November 30, 1974, if he determines that such suspension will further negotiations for a peaceful resolution of the Cyprus conflict.
